The Lake House of Prayer is a collaborative effort of Maryknoll Fathers, Brothers, Sisters and Lay Missioners, under the Catholic Archdiocese of Mwanza.
The pastor, Fr. Jim Eble M.M., has lived and worked in Tanzania for 30 years. His experiences include living with the traditional pastoralist Natuturu people in the Rift Valley, urban poor communities in Mabatini, and at a rural parish in the Serengeti Plains. He pursued qualification in Spiritual Direction and establishment of the retreat house in order to offer Tanzanian religious and lay people support and accompaniment on their spiritual journeys.
Sr. Janet Srebalus M.M. has lived and worked in Tanzania for 50 years. She supports retreatants with Spiritual Direction. Janet supports Tanzanian religious sisters from around the country in leadership and spiritual growth.
Stephen Veryser, a Maryknoll Lay Missioner, has lived and worked in Tanzania in various capacities since first arriving in the country as a teacher with the US Peace Corps in 2004. Steve manages the retreat house and is pursuing education in Pastoral Studies.
